Every great event has a moment where everything clicks, the crowd is dialed in, the music hits right, the sound fills the space without overwhelming it. For Jordan Groth, those moments are what M3DIUM Productions is built around.
Jordan is a professional sound engineer and DJ based in Boulder, Colorado. Over the past eight years, he’s engineered live sound for events ranging from intimate 50-person backyard gatherings to 800-person outdoor festivals, corporate conferences, nonprofit galas, and everything in between. He’s the person behind the mixing board making sure your event sounds the way it’s supposed to.
How It Started
Jordan’s path into professional audio didn’t follow a straight line. It started with a deep love for music, specifically electronic dance music, house, disco, and the classics that define dance floor culture. That love turned into DJing, which turned into a fascination with how sound actually works: why some rooms sound incredible and others sound terrible, why some speakers fill a space effortlessly while others leave dead spots, and why live mixing is an art that no amount of technology can fully automate.
That fascination led to sound engineering. Jordan spent years learning the craft through Earth Coast Productions, providing sound for corporate events, festivals, and conferences across Colorado. The technical side came naturally to understanding signal flow, gain structure, frequency management, speaker placement, and the hundred small decisions that determine whether an audience hears clean, powerful audio or muddy noise.
But the part that kept Jordan coming back wasn’t the gear. It was the events themselves. Being the person responsible for how an event sounds means being present for some of people’s most important moments: wedding vows, keynote speeches, a band’s biggest show, a community coming together for a celebration. Getting the sound right for those moments matters.
Why M3DIUM
After years of engineering sound under other banners, Jordan launched M3DIUM Productions to build something specific: a sound and DJ company designed around how events actually work, not how audio rental catalogs are organized.
The name M3DIUM reflects the idea that sound is the medium through which events come alive. It’s the thing between the performer and the audience, between the speaker and the crowd, between the music and the dance floor. When the medium is handled right, it disappears and all that’s left is the experience.
M3DIUM is built on three principles that Jordan identified through years of doing this work:
Be easy to work with. Event planning is stressful. The sound vendor should reduce stress, not add to it. That means quick responses, clear communication, transparent pricing, and the flexibility to accommodate changes without drama.
Show up prepared. Every event gets the right equipment for the space, a sound plan built around the actual venue and timeline, and backup gear in the truck. The preparation that happens before the event determines how smooth the event itself runs.
Read the room. Whether mixing sound for a live band or DJing a dance floor, the best results come from paying attention to the acoustics, the crowd energy, the moment and adjusting in real time. Technology helps, but instinct and experience are what make the difference.
The Sound + DJ Combination
What makes M3DIUM unusual in the Boulder and Denver market is that Jordan is both a sound engineer and a performing DJ. Most sound engineers don’t DJ. Most DJs don’t bring professional sound systems or know how to engineer live audio. Jordan does both.
This matters for events that need a live band engineered properly in the first half of the evening and a DJ spinning tracks for the dance floor in the second half. With M3DIUM, that’s one provider, one setup, one person managing the entire audio experience from ceremony to last call. No coordinating between two vendors, no equipment changeover in the middle of the event, no wondering if the DJ’s speakers can handle the room.
Jordan’s DJ style leans toward electronic dance music, disco, house, and classics, typically in the 126 to 131 BPM range but every event gets a custom set built around the client’s preferences and the crowd’s energy. No two sets are the same. Jordan reads the room, adjusts on the fly, and builds energy gradually rather than blasting the same pre-programmed playlist at every event.
House of Fire
House of Fire is Jordan’s personal project and creative outlet, a monthly event series in Boulder that combines professional sound production, live DJ performance, and a community-driven atmosphere. It’s part dance party, part sound experiment, part gathering of people who care about music and how it sounds.
House of Fire is also where Jordan tests new gear, refines new mixing techniques, and pushes creative boundaries that wouldn’t make sense at a corporate conference or a wedding reception. It keeps the creative side sharp and gives potential clients a chance to experience what M3DIUM sounds like before booking for their own event.

The Service Area
M3DIUM Productions is based in Boulder, Colorado and serves the entire Front Range corridor. Jordan’s ideal range runs from Louisville to Estes Park, but he’ll travel anywhere in Colorado when travel is compensated Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Vail, Aspen, and everywhere in between.
Most events are booked with at least a week of lead time, though last-minute requests can sometimes be accommodated. Peak season runs from May through October, when outdoor events across Colorado create heavy demand for professional sound.
